If someone else wants to try, the script is located here:

Tried to unite the two, but couldn't get it to work.

This means that I can't sort anything until I am done seeding, which in some cases can be weeks! Is there any way of fixing this?Įdit: Found a competing script (in python, which I half-way grok) which has this option, but uses rsync instead of lftp.

Using this script, and it works great except for one problem: after I move the files away from the folder I download the files to in order to keep everything sorted, it will try to download the same file again. Not sure if the other functionality can be added again but not a whiz so maybe someone else can help me figure that out?

I had to simplify the code for osx as I kept on getting errors but i finally got something to work. The ssl libraries appear to be installed by default following the same checks you can find in google. I installed homebrew than lftp using homebrew. # sets permissions on all files in local dir # Sets the owner of all files in local dir to nobody Mirror -c -log=synctorrents.log $remote_dir $local_dir Trap "rm -f /tmp/syncrtorrent.lock" SIGINT SIGTERM Seems trivial but reference my disclaimer. One other thing that was giving me problems was that my local directory had a space in the name of one of the folders. As I have it now, I Command+Space, type FTN+Enter and initiate the ftp transfer that way. Works the same way but with different directories and gives you the flexibility to sync specific directories via spotlight. So synctorrent.lock becomes FTNsync.lock and so on. Simply pick a name, say for example, FTNsync.sh for your script, and then replace every instance of the word "synctorrents" with "FTNsync" everyhwere within the script. Once you get this working, try having a script for specific directories in your seedbox. If of the following conditions are met for ĭo the following to the matched file or folder:

This takes care of my on demand needs, but I also wanted to integrate some kind of scheduling so I created a Hazel rule to handle this. Now I run the script whenever I want via spotlight (Command+Space). In Applescript editor I put this:ĭo script "cd /Applications/SyncTorrents"ĭo script "./synctorrents.sh" in window 1Įnd tellEdit this to cd / to wherever you have the script. So here's what I did to be able to summon the script at my choosing. So if I wanted to stop the script from running, the only way I could figure out was to remedy the three things I listed. It's not user friendly enough and a little too "pure fu#ing magic" to me.

lftp was running, visible via the Activity Monitorīut I didn't like this method because I'm too dumb to figure out how to update, edit, stop, manage, or monitor when the script will run and literature I've found on all cron related questions were written in a way as if the material was not meant to be learned. When I tried using the cron method of scheduling, I could see that the process was running because: Suggestions and corrections are more than welcomed. There are better ways to do what I'm doing, I'm sure, but this is the only way I've been able to get to work for me. Quick disclaimer: My knowledge of scripting/command line is based entirely on deciphering, deducting, cutting, and pasting. I'll see if I can add anything of value here to anyone by sharing how I've been using it. Fist of all, many thanks for this script.
